The trip!

This is the story of a couple who decided to cross the sea for the land between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. They conscientiously prepared for this amazing trip for months.

They won’t be back in Prague until the flowers will blossom once more in the parks. Not before the sun will bathe again our pale bodies. Pale like the vanished snow.

For more than 120 days they will be thousand of kilometres away heading south. Luckily for them, the summer just waked up down there. Not like here, where the days are getting colder and darker.

We’ll everything was ready for the adventure. Last Friday in town they had dinner with friends, perfect time to say “hasta la vista” and “good luck”. While we were still in bed and a new Monday was born, they were already at the terminal 2, ready for their first stop: the never sleeping and always fascinating city of Madrid J. I should talk more often about this city I was lucky to live in , I will, promise…

Back to my friends, it’s Monday morning in Madrid and they are searching for an idea get rid of their stuff and be free to fool around before the big step across the ocean. Bur first they check their next departure. And then… “LE DRAME”. Stupid to mistake 7p.m. for 7a.m. right?

It happens I know, but you never think it will happen to you. Money won’t buy you happiness, but in this case it helped. Some dollars on the desk, of course 4 hours of long discussions and you’re in next day’s flight. Aleluuuuuuuya!

Monday 22h30,I was home, lying on the couch when the phone started buzzing on the tea table. +420… from the Czech rep, but who? The worldttroters are stuck in Madrid. My eyes grow wider and wider as they recite their story. I can’t believe what I’m hearing. So stupid…

But they were not alone. My sweet George opened the door of his house and gave them a place to pass the night. I just asked him once, and he was ready to give a hand or two. George thanks for always being there for me and for the ones around. Thank you my dear Jorge, thanks pelos!!!!

That's what friends are for...hoy por ti... :)

Short film festival

Last weekend Ruxi took us to

We went on Thursday; I didn’t like all the films, but it got better towards the end. The very last one touched me deeply.

HIBERNATION (United Kingdom, 2005, Colour, 15min) by John Williams
1985. A secret tree house. Two children disguised in animal costumes experiment to revive a bee. In fact, they are searching for a way to bring back something much bigger.

It didn’t win any award but I’ll remember the kindhearted story.

The second special mention was awarded to the French-Senegalese film OUSMANE directed by Dyane Gaye.

Jury verdict: We liked this film for the naiveté, generosity and brightness of childhood against the materialism of the adult world. Ousmane has nothing, but he is rich of his own imagination and dreams.

Ousmane, I wish I was a little bit like him sometimes… we all should be…

Weekend in Bresse

Flybaboo, sounds like Balu from the Jungle Book right? Well it’s a Geneva based regional airline that operates with three Dash 8 Q300 – i.e. 50 seats little plane.

This small company offers interesting prices for lovely destinations such as:
- Ibiza, Valencia from CHF 149 o/w + taxes (nice...)

- Nice, St Tropez from CHF 69 o/w + taxes (interesting...)
- PRAGUE from CHF 69 o/w + taxes (are you kidding? Super Trouper!!)
- and others…

The Swiss know were to go and have fun, don’t they? We found this particular airline while searching for a low price rate to come to France. We paid 160€ for our tickets Prague-Geneve, and you wouldn’t say you are travelling in a low-cost airline. I must say we had a very pleasant fly; we had water and snacks during the flight. Offered for free!!! These Swiss are so nice!!!

Its Sunday again and tomorrow is our last day here in La Bresse. Remarkable weekend. Time to see the family, friends, and time to savour a delicious and tender piece of meat…mmmmmm TROP BON!!!

The Louhanais are doing well. Reub will finally have his driving license soon…good for him, but not so good for us…I guess. He waited 10 years to have it, and last week when he was about to pass the exam, the instructor got sick! A bizarre twist of fate, I ought to say.

Le lion is getting ready for his second trip of the year. I wonder if Prague is ready for him. The Dick Lorentz were not much in shape, as one of them had some terrible pain in the back. You know; we are not 18 anymore, and there are SOME things and postures we can’t do anymore… So no more “coup de reins” at least for some time. That’s what the doctor said.

Arthur gave us a private concert with his new and heavy friend, Mr. Accordion. I have the impression the instrument is heavier that he himself. I hope he will come soon back to Prague too. Roxy club is waiting for you!

So see you all on the 31st next month. We’ll say nashled to '06 and ahoj to '07.

and finally Sunday...

Last night was crazy as usual.

I'm laying on the couch trying to recover. The dancing queen needs to rest now. Last night we started in Localblock, then we went to a tiny "peniche" on the river, then to Futurum and end up at Valetino's. Matieu's friend was so happy to go there...

But unfortunately for me, this morning i found out i lost my glasses. How can anyone loose his glasses?... well i did. I can't find them anywhere. Even went back to Valentino's this afternoon, but no sign of them. I really hope to find them, mrd!!!! :(

Tomorrow i'll ask Kamila to call the taxi who took us back home. My very last hope.

I'm so silly sometimes...

Human Traffix this weekend.

Photo from Friday night at Roxy.

This week Gemma and Moi are staying over. It's their first time in Prague and they seem to like it. It's a great city; and so romantic...

It's a pity for the weather. On Monday the temperatures felt to 0°C and even -3°C. On Thursday night it snowed. It’s like winter here. So cold! The worst is this frozen wind hat stabs you like dagger every time it blows.

On Halloween night Miguel organised a Party in St. Nicolas’ bar. We dressed up as the legendary Swedish band: “give me give me give me a man after midnight…”, “you are my dancing queen, young and sweet only 17…” No one recognised us; even though we attached letters to our back. We were 4; dressed up like in the 70’s, I don’t get it, it was obvious, right?

On Wednesday we went to Tropison and had some laughs while trying to dance some salsa. Completely free style. David is not much into this kind of music, but at least I managed to make him come to the dance floor twice with me. It was nothing close to salsa, but it was dead fun. 10 pts for me.

On Thursday we had a marvellous dinner in la Valetta. One of the best restaurants we know in this city.
Restaurant
VALLETA

Moderni Mezinarodni Kuchyne
Mexicka 7 – Vrsovice Praha 10

The only place is town where you can enjoy an incredible mixture of new flavours, sweet and salty; simply breath taking. Once again, this time we had an extraordinary evening. We celebrated that Melanie found a job, that David is not going to Paris anymore, and… what the hell, that fact that we are such a bunch of great people, and that we still stick together. After 3 bottles of Rioja, 2 bottles of French Champaign and some drinks we went to Infinity. We closed the club and then we went down town for more. Everything was closed, so we ended in Bombay. We closed the place and went home. There we met Todd, nice American and owner of the Prague TV site.

On Friday, I woke up with a funny eye. Nothing serious but I had to go to the doctor. More or less I understood I have a little infection, due to the cold. I say more or less ‘cause the doctor didn’t speak English… not easy. I have to take some drops and no make up for 5 days.

Well, its Saturday evening and the weekend is still ON! We are invited to a birthday party in Andel. Miguel just called. Goody goody! Cata see you there!
Super Muak!
