Getting ready…great adventures ahead, waiting for us all.

On Sunday we’ll fly to Colombia. Looking forward to discover this country so long banned for tourism. I heard many good things about the people and the culture; so it’s time to have a look.

I hope Lucia will enjoy it too. The flight will be looooong, so I have maid my calculations: around 280 passengers, 5 mins each = is like 23 hours, far enough. So we’ll do just fine!

A couple of more days, and we’re gone!

In the meantime Aramis will be pleased with some relaxed weeks, out of the way of "mini Godzilla". It would be like "spa treatment" for him.

Been to Budapest for the weekend and i had a great celebration there. Thank you all. I will remember; walking at night in an empty street, lost in my thoughts, when at the sound of the midnight bells you all jumped in to my arms. Happy birthday!!! I love you all!! Cosi!!!

Life is a fight between giants, right?

I will never be 16 again…

And that’s a fate baby! It was year 1993. Bill Clinton succeeded George H.W. Bush as the 42nd President of the United States, and Václav Havel was elected President of the Czech Republic. I didn’t know about this at the time. Guess I simply didn’t care; how was I supposed to know that I would move to Prague 12 years later. Playwriter and politician, he was the tenth and last President of Czechoslovakia (1989–93) and the first President of the Czech Republic (1993–2003). In February a van bomb parked below the North Tower of the World Trade Center exploded, killing 6 and injuring many more. Who would have thought that 8 years later it would disappear for ever… scary world right? :(

On that same year, M. Indurain won “le tour de France ‘93” for the 3rd time; two more where to come. The Maastricht Treaty took effect, formally establishing the European Union and leading to the creation of the euro. Oh yes I remember, at that time I had pesetas in my pockets, not many though. Enough to get some kalimocho or beer “minis” with the friends. Kalimocho is a mix of coke and wine; at that time it tasted just fine and was a fairly cheap way to get drunk. We could spend hours drinking, joggling in the streets and laughing at life; not really worrying about the future ahead. Should we worry now?

Later on that year Brandon Lee was accidentally killed during the filming of "The Crow". It became one of my favorite films when it came out the next year. Absolutely stunning. The OST is simply awesome, The Cure, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots…

We all got revolted with the film “In the Name of the Father” that came out that year. We knew about injustice in the world, and at the time “young” and “rebels” - like we thought we were - it was time to show our discontent with society. We participated in demonstrations, and sometimes got into some trouble (nothing serious), but the truth is, we had no idea of what a real fight meant. The world out there was in constant fight: Yugoslav wars, Algerian Civil War, Civil war in Afghanistan, Israeli-Palestinian conflict...

I don’t know why, but I suddenly feel I need to see you, to talk to you, to…

Lately I can’t stop thinking about that chapel in the middle of nowhere; the hazy windows, our endless conversations and time slipping through our fingers. We wanted to stop time, but it was time that stopped us.

People automatically look away when their eyes meet with someone else’s. But I always liked when my eyes met yours. I felt hypnotized, just couldn’t look anywhere else. There’s always been “this” something with you, I can’t resist. I knew the first time I saw you, but I was not sure what it meant then. Not that I know now; but I don’t care what it is; as long as it keeps me feeling this way.

I close my eyes; I can see you, standing in front of me, smiling. I can’t help smiling back. How many times I have sought for that look. Then, the images in my mind vanish like smoke and when I open my eyes, you’re gone.

Was it destiny that made me sit near you in that first diner? Was it destiny that pushed my lips accidentally onto yours? Do you believe we were meant to be?

LASIK

Laser In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) - laser surgical technique, very effective in treatening varying degrees of short-sightedness, longs-sightedness and astigmatism. It combins the corneal flap surgical technique with the shaping of the corneal tissue by excimer laser.

I have myopia, and if everything goes well from tomorrow it will be over. No more scratched glasses, no more dry eyes with the contacts...

I am not scared, but i am a bit concerned about the fact of having my eyes so "exposed".

From tomorrow, will i see the world with different eyes? :)

12 Months

Lucia you are 12 months now, almost 13. You’ve become a funny little girl, always granting us with this big smile of yours. You started walking some days before you turned one. Suddenly you decided you wanted to, so you stood up and gave your first steps without requiring any help at all. It was amazing. You knew you could, and so you did, on your own. You were so happy when we all cheered at you!

And now, no one can stop you. The fence we bought is useless now, you need to be able to wander all aver the house. I’m still a bit concerned about the stairs. You climb up easily, but for going down you always call for help, that’s good!

Still just two teeth, but I think the upper ones are on there way. The doctor told us to start using the toothbrush. You find that quite amusing, and so do I. We hear lots of “mama”, “dededede”, sometimes “papa” and some other stuff of your own. It’s really funny to see you speaking and singing. No clue what you say, but I wish I’d understood. Sometimes it looks as if you said “veux”, “I want” in French, but really, who knows…

You are 9.4 kilos and 71.5cm. Your appetite is still the same, voracious. You like almost everything. You go nuts with cheese and bread; and it seems you enjoy the “jamon pata negra” very much (but doctor says we should about pork meat until you’re older) Well, a bit wont do you wrong, right?

We still go to the pool once a week and we are now searching for a nursery; is time for you to start playing with other children. It will be more fun than with adults, believe me.

People are asking us when we’ll go for number 2. Jezzz! Don’t know if we are ready? Are you, for a little sis or bro?
