I’ve just moved from some other blog, where I wasn’t feeling comfortable any more.
After living almost 5 years, crazy years in Paris I moved to Prague. From P to P, that’s my destiny… In Paris I was working on a very big company, which made me feel like Oliver Twist. I was exhausted all the time, tired of my job life, and not very happy at all “Sir, can I have some more please…?” However I met very nice people, but I also met some not so nice. So after a lot of brainstorming, I decided to come to this beautiful city with my sweet heart. So far, I’ve had time enough to realise I don’t want to go back to my old life. I’m expecting something different, but what? I still have no clue. I’m searching. Now that the sunny days are back, I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
So here I am, in the Czech Republic. I’m learning Czech, which is quite a challenge, cause I’ve never tried to learn such a difficult language. But is fun, ‘cause I get to practise it every day, but most of the time, people smile and answer me back in English. At least I’m trying! I know I speak like tarzan, but I’ll get better.
Last week we started with the “akusativ” form. It’s needed to express the direct object after certain verbs, prepositions and to express time. In Czech you don’t have an order for the elements in a sentence, so we need to use declinations. For example, for the following phrase “The tiger ate the cat”, we all understand that the tiger ate the cat, and not the other way round. Well this is Czech can be misunderstood; you need to emphasize who is the object of the action. That’s why we say “Tygr jí kočku” instead of “Tygr jí kočka” (We use the “u” ending instead of the “a” ending). Then of course you have some rules, for fem., masc., sing and plural, and some exceptions of course. I told you, it’s quite a challenge!
For the class of tomorrow, I have to prepare a dialog in a restaurant, where the order is not correct. It’s like a little play between a server and the client. This would be my first play in Czech. I love everything that has to do with the magical world of theatre. Back in college I joined the theatre troupe, Histrion. Great time back them. Most of them keep playing, I envy them. Some of my closest friends are about to open their new play “The buttler did it”. I wish them the best. Mucha mierda chicos!!
If you happen to be in Madrid, and if you're curious to know if the buttler did it or not, here's the flyer:
